The Neales

The Neales are a father and sons singing group who made it to the Final of Britain's Got Talent in Series 9. The group consisted of father Laurie Neale, and sons Phil, Dan & James Neil. The group formed due to the father, Laurie Neale, suffering from a heart attack.

In their audition, they performed 'When Will I Be Loved?' by the Everly Brothers. Simon commented 'I absolutely loved that audition', whilst Alesha remarked 'I can't think of a better way to audition than with your family'.

In the Semi-Finals, the group performed 'Father and Son' by Cat Stevens, with pictures of the group when they were young running in the background. David commented 'it was sort of cheesy but really really heartwarming, and I actually love cheese [and] I was very emotional watching that', with Amanda adding 'To see you all there as men singing so beautifully together, your family must be so proud'. They won the Judges Vote and advanced onto the Final.

In the Final, the group performed 'I Won't Give up' by Jason Mraz. Again, photos from the group's past were being displayed on the screen. Despite Simon stating that he 'wasn't crazy about the song choice', David commented 'I think that the nation has fallen in love with the Neales', and Alesha praised the group by saying that 'I think [they] did really well tonight'. They ultimately placed 9th overall.

After BGT[]

In June 2016, the group released a charity single called 'I'll Be There' for Father's Day, raising money for the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK. The song was sold at Tesco checkouts, causing it to chart at #22 in the Official Singles Chart. In 2019 Phil Neale appeared on Dragons' Den, receiving no pitches from the Dragons thus failing to advance.
