David Walliams is a British actor, comedian and writer who was a judge on Britain's Got Talent between Series 6 and Series 15.

As well as his appearance on the show, he is also well known for his children's books, as well as appearing in comedy shows such as Little Britain and Come Fly With Me. He also presented a one-off Christmas special of Blankety Blank and acts as the voice over for a clip show named Revenge of Alright on the Night which later returned to its original title It'll Be Alright on the Night.

He also provided the voice of Pudsey in Pudsey the Dog: The Movie. He also provided the voice of The Voice Trumpets with Rochelle Humes when they joined the existing cast of Daniel Rigby, Antonia Thomas, Jim Broadbent, Fearne Cotton and Jane Horrocks in 2017, in the reboot of classic British children’s television series Teletubbies.

In 2020, Walliams performed a skit at the National Television Awards before he presented an award, wherein he appeared upon the BGT Stage and was dressed in different attire, before another version of David was sat at the Judges Desk and gave him a Golden Buzzer.

In December 2020, he dressed up as the Queen as a part of the 'Britain's Got Talent Christmas Spectacular' and jokingly provided an alternative version of the Queen's Christmas speech, later in the show he led the Comedy Christmas Calendar Skit which featured several comedians who reached the live shows between Series 7 & Series 14, and performed a dance routine with Stavros Flatley alongside Ashley Banjo.

In June 2021, Walliams was a guest panellist upon an episode of ITV's 'The Masked Dancer UK'. In 2022, Walliams became a Judge on the tenth Series of 'Australia's Got Talent', alongside fellow BGT judge Alesha Dixon.

In November 2022, a leaked taping Transcript revealed that Walliams made rude comments about two contestants (one of these being a pensioner who was sent home during the auditions and another being a female contestant after she walked off of the stage) who competed on Series 14 of Britain's Got Talent during a break in taping for the show. By 25th November 2022, his future on the show became uncertain, and in 2023, it was confirmed he would not be returning for the sixteenth series and would instead be replaced by former Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli.[1][2][3]

Following Mr Blobby's audition airing, many fans speculated that it was David dressed up in order to prank the judges. However, this cannot have been the case, as legally only the actors Barry Killerby and Paul Denson are allowed to play the character, with Denson having portrayed him from 2016 onwards and Killerby was his original actor.[4]

In September 2023, Walliams announced his intention to sue the Britain’s Got Talent production company ‘Fremantle’ due to a breach in his data protection, likely due to the leaked Transcript which lead to his firing, with this legal action being lodged under his real name ‘David Edward Williams.[5]

Preferred Acts[]

David is known for his wacky sense of humour and often for giving a chance to 'novelty' acts or acts that other judges have found untalented. In his first two series, his Golden Buzzers have come from acts who would otherwise not have made it passed the audition stage however in later seasons he has been known to give his Golden Buzzer to wacky acts that the other judges also like. David is also a fan of comedy and is one of the first judges to give his opinion on comic acts and will usually vote for a comedian over any other act in the judge’s choice. In the 10 years he was a judge, he only ever buzzed 6 times in the Semi-Finals.
